10 Questions with Jack Pierce

Where are you today as you speak with us and how is it all going ?

We are currently driving from Hagen in Germany to 's-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands, we’ve had to pull a few show shows due to illness unfortunately o we’re heading to our European Manager’s house for some rest and recuperation! It’s been a real bummer but we DID get to play our London show! And that went OFF!!

Your debut Ep was released in 2014, from busking in Melbourne to touring Europe...how does that decade feel now that you look back ?

It’s been a wild ride! That EP was the one that put us on the map in Europe, and got us picked up by our current management (they’re incredible) and got us on the festival circuit over here. It’s incredible to think about the experiences we had all down to that EP, namely the single It’s My Fault. It really helped put us on the map, LITERALLY!

On your musical journey were their moments or people that helped and inspired you to keep going

100%. No man is an island, and we certainly didn’t do this alone. Not to mention our wonderful team we’ve had around us from the start, but also the support of our wives (and in my case, children!). It’s a very tough thing go away for a while at a time ontour and there’s been SO many moments when you look at things and it wouldn’t take much to throw in the towel. If not for our support network we wouldn’t be where we are!

Whats the hardest thing about being a professional musician ?

Being away from my kids, definitely. As such we’re working on a weekend on/weekend off style of touring around Australia on the next run, and why this European tour we’re currently on was only 2 1/2 weeks!

Whats the worst thing about being a professional museum?

OMG, I know it’s a simple typo but can I give an answer to the question?? I would say, the hardest thing about being a professional museum is that cheeky Ben Stiller roaming around at night when all the exhibits come alive! What a bother!
Haha no, the worst thing is also the best thing. I love to travel, I love to visit new people all over the world. Of course, it’s difficult to be away from family so it’s a real double edged sword!

What is the most annoying thing your brother does ?

Get’s so sick on tour that we’ve had to cancel shows!!

What does he consider your most annoying trait ?

The fact that I’ve just caught what he has!!

Whats the worst thing to have ever happened on tour ?

This. This is the worst thing that’s ever happened on tour.

Whats the best thing to ever have happened on tour

Wow well there’s PLENTY of those! Touring with Tash Sultana and Cat Empire was clearly some of the biggest shows we’ve ever one, but I have to say playing AFTER Jamiroquai at a festival on the next stage over, and getting his whole audience come dance with us must be up there!! Colors of Ostrava in the Czech Republic was absolutely incredible! Probably one of the best nights of my life!

What is your favourite venue to play and why ?

The Forum Melbourne was a dream come true for us, and a real notch on our belt! Was always so proud we smash that one!

What is your favourite city to visit and why ?

Personally I think every city has their advantages! I always try to get out for a run at each city I go to so I can explore it fully! I think in Europe it may well be Prague, or Amsterdam?? But for Australia, I always love performing in Melbourne; because I’m driving home to sleep in my own bed that night and waking up to the fam!

Where to for you guys in the next decade ?

Oh man who knows! We’re about to release our new album, and already working on the next one!!! In fact I just had an idea… While we’re locked down recuperating over then ext 4 days, I want to write as MANY songs as I can!!!
